Amal Clooney was born in Beirut. The Arabic word meaning "hope" is'ml. Her family left Lebanon at the age of two years old, in the Lebanese Civil War, and relocated to Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. 10] Her father Ramzi Alamuddin, a Lebanese Druze who was from the Alam al-Din dynasty village located in Baakline in the Chouf district,[11] received his MBA degree at the American University of Beirut. Her mother, Baria (nee Miknass), was born to a family of Sunni Muslims in Tripoli in Northern Lebanon,[14][11] and a Palestinian-Jordanian[15] mother. Katz Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in entertainment law.While studying at NYU she interned for a term in the office of Sonia Sotomayor, then a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and NYU Law faculty participant.
